Two of my biggest passions in the world is comedy and music. When I was approached to review a comedy and metal album, I said “Fuck yes!” Then I found out it was Brian Posehn, I got 10 times more excited. Been following his work for years and to be honest with you, before I was asked to review this album, I had no idea he had a new album in the works. For those of you that haven’t heard of Brian Posehn and are unfamiliar with his work, let me describe Brian Posehn to you. Best way to describe him? He’s a comedian that the nerd and metal community needed. Getting his big break on the “Sarah Silverman Program,” where he played Brian Spukowski (Sarah Silverman’s gay neighbor). That is where his comedy career began to blow up, normally his comedy albums will feature stand up comedy with a couple metal songs on it. Aside from comedy and acting, Brian has also written 45 issues of Deadpool comics for Marvel.. Yes, I wasn’t kidding… Brian Posehn is not just hilarious but he’s a hilarious and rocking nerd.

Like I stated earlier, this isn’t his first time doing metal songs, but this is his first time releasing a whole metal album. Must I say, this album will cause you to have numerous eargasms. “Grandpa Metal” is the ultimate metal album for metalhead comedy fans. While listening to this album, I thought to myself “This album could definitely be made into a complete animated series.” Honestly, nothing against Brian, but I didn’t expect this album to be this kickass. While the album features so many amazing metal artists, I think it was a great touch to have the legendary parody artist “Weird” Al Yankovic. Spoiler alert: Sadly, he isn’t on a metal track but instead, is having a phone convo with Brian.

For you metalheads that are thinking, “is this a typical comedy album?” No! If you listen to this album you’ll get ear banged by various badass songs and riffs with hilarious lyrics. The album features 8 original songs written by Brian Posehn and various musicians (listed below), 2 covers and one “Super Secret Track”. My final thought on if you should get it or not? Just fucking do it and be the judge for yourself.

“Grandpa Metal” is set to be released on February 14, 2020 via Megaforce Records. You pre-order the album at the following link https://orcd.co/posehn
